Investigators probe cause of deadly on-the-job accident in Yonkers
Construction is on hold as investigators try to figure out what caused an accident in Yonkers Monday that claimed the life of a worker.
Investigators say 41-year-old Gregory Brensen, of Pennsylvania, was adjusting a piece of concrete flooring on the sixth level of the luxury apartment complex on Main Street when it snapped out of place. The slabs, weighing several tons, slammed down to the ground taking Brensen's body down three floors. Brensen was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center but later died from severe head injuries.
Welders are working to secure the concrete slabs and reinforce the areas compromised by the collapse. The construction site will not reopen until federal investigators find the cause of the accident.
