Immigrants and advocates are urging lawmakers to override Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino's veto of the Immigration Protection Act.
The group marched on McLean Avenue to St. Barnabas Church in Yonkers Monday to advocate for the Westchester County Immigration Protection Act.
They chose the McLean area, which is represented by Legislator David Tubiolo, to raise their concerns and sway his vote.
"We think this act, if it were passed, would increase the safety of Westchester County," says organizer Frank Soults.
The County Board of Legislators passed the act, but it was vetoed by County Executive Rob Astorino last month.
The legislators can override the veto, but not every legislator is on board.
Attempts to connect with Tubiolo were met with no response.
The board is scheduled to vote next week.
