Icy roads are being blamed for a chain-reaction crash on I-684 that killed a woman and a toddler.
It happened Saturday south of Exit 4 around 2:30 p.m. Authorities say the crash involved a total of six vehicles.
Police say 59-year-old Henry Valencia was riding in a box truck when he wasn't able to stop due to icy road conditions. His truck struck another vehicle that was stopped in traffic.
The driver in the second vehicle, identified as Kerry Hamill, 40, of Massachusetts, was killed. A 3-year-old boy in Hamill's vehicle was also killed, police say.
Hamill's wife, 40-year-old Lauren Pellegrino, survived the crash. She was hospitalized with minor injuries.
State police say the initial crash started a chain-reaction that involved four more vehicles. Four occupants of those vehicles were hospitalized with minor injuries.
Police say the crash remains under investigation.
