An I-287 blasting project resumed Tuesday in White Plains after a near disastrous blast last October.
The state Department of Transportation will conduct 25 separate blasts through Thursday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. along the highway. Crews will then install a soundproof wall.
The project was put on hold after flying debris from a blast last year struck someone in the head and damaged homes and cars.
The DOT has since implemented additional safety restrictions and installed rubber tarps as barriers.
Neighbors are still worried, despite the upgrades and letters being distributed to communicate with the community. "I am concerned about pollution and the dust and the house getting damaged," says Claudia Gardner. "It's a scary situation."
