Authorities across the Hudson Valley are beefing up security at places of worship for the beginning of Passover and the Easter weekend.

Police officials said there are not any credible threats to the religious locations, but they are monitoring activity with state and local agencies to make sure everyone is safe.

Clarkstown police spokesman Pete Walker said people shouldn't be alarmed by extra police cars around churches and temples.

“Go about your daily business. Enjoy your weekends with your family and friends. Enjoy your services that you'll be attending over the weekend," he said.

Parishioners attending a Good Friday Mass in White Plains told News 12 that they are thankful for the extra precautions.

“It's nice to have everybody around and feel safe in a place where we should feel safe," said Selena Mendoza, of Valhalla.

Walker said it’s important that if residents see something suspicious, to say something immediately.
