Police are searching for two suspects who robbed a check cashing business at gunpoint Saturday morning.
According to authorities, the incident happened at around 9:15 a.m., when a worker and her boyfriend arrived to open the store located at 260 Saw Mill River Road in Elmsford. That is when police say two masked suspects, armed with guns, forced their way inside and demanded the victims to open the door.
Sgt. Frank Pumillo, of the Greenburgh Police Department, says the robbers bound the man and woman with handcuffs and plastic ties. Then they stole $50,000 and drove off in a silver getaway car.
Craig Brown, who owns a dry cleaning business next door to the check cashing store, says it is not the first time local entrepreneurs have been targeted by robbers.
"I guess we got to stay out front more, add more security cameras ... just to be on the safe side because it's really nerve-wracking," Joan Brown says.
Anyone with information about the Elmsford armed robbery is asked to call Greenburgh detectives at 914-682-5325.
