A rabbi from the Hudson Valley says he fears that deadly shootings like the one in California won’t end, and could happen locally.
The shooting at a California synagogue left one person dead Saturday. It came six months after the massacre at a Pittsburgh synagogue.

Rabbi Jeremy Ruberg, with New City Jewish Center, says these incidents are not isolated.

"There is a lot of fear that these are all connected. I think the hard part for people is wrapping their heads around about what exactly is driving it,” he says.

Jewish leaders say these recent shooting have had a lasting effect, forcing them to take extra steps to prevent them from being the next target and forcing them to think how they would react.

"Sadly… that's part of our protocols. We had to think about what if this was the high holidays and this room was entirely filled. What would we do? What if it wasn't and this was just our weekly day service where next door we have 20 people mourning at 6:45 a.m.? We never had to think that way,” says Ruberg.
