Organizations across the Hudson Valley are stepping up to help victims in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic who have been ravaged by Hurricane Fiona.
The Afya Foundation is one of many local organizations collecting supplies to help the devastated countries.
MORE:
Power is out across all of Puerto Rico. As much as 30 inches of rain has already fallen, and more is in the forecast.
Fiona's blow was more devastating because Puerto Rico has yet to recover from Hurricane Maria, which killed nearly 3,000 people and destroyed the power grid in 2017.
The foundation is particularly looking for personal hygiene and first aid supplies. They are looking for full-size containers, not travel size. Also, they can not accept supplies that will expire before March 2023.
If you live in the area, you can donate supplies to the Afya Foundation. Items can be dropped off anytime Monday-Friday, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at their warehouse located at 140 Saw Mill River Road in Yonkers, or click here for more information.
