Hudson Valley animal organizations say they've noticed that the number of animals in shelters is down significantly despite the coronavirus pandemic.
Yonkers Animal Shelter and the SPCA of Westchester tell News 12 they've reduced their animal population by more than 50%.
They say that donations are also down because many people are out of work. Shelters say they hope they will receive more donations this week as Giving Tuesday returns.
Giving Tuesday typically follows the Thanksgiving holiday shopping weekend, but will return this week to help raise money for organizations struggling through the crisis.
