House fire in Somers may be ruled arson
Police in Somers say a house fire there appears to be the work of an arsonist.
Shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday, the home of Tom and Mary Ann Maffucci burst into flames. Over 100 firefighters from four departments rushed to the scene to fight the three-alarm blaze. About 20 minutes into the fire, the hydrant that was supplying the water burst, injuring a fireman and cutting off the water supply.
Officials say it took almost 25 minutes to re-establish the water supply and in that time they lost the house. The homeowners were not home at the time of the blaze.
