A volunteer firefighter in Monroe suffered smoke inhalation while responding to a blaze on Monday. 
Authorities say the rescuer was taken to the hospital after battling the blaze at 230 Cedar Cliff Rd.
The Red Cross is helping a family of four who lived there, according to fire officials. 
The cause remains under investigation.
