Hospital workers are urging anyone who may have been exposed to chemicals as a result of the Verla International factory fire and explosion to get themselves checked as a precaution.

Most of the victims were taken to St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital Monday and have been treated and released. Hospital officials say that most of the victims were treated for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Many victims complained of a burning sensation in their throats and chests, as well as headaches.  They went to the hospital as a precaution.

The main concern from hospital officials was if anyone was exposed to carbon monoxide or cyanide.

One firefighter who suffered burns was transferred to Westchester Medical Center.  Another worker was also transferred to Westchester Medical Center with an unknown condition.
