An influx of hikers caused mayhem over the weekend with parks forced to shut down while police issued tickets and towed cars.

Hordes of hikers seemingly ignored executive orders to wear masks and social distance while flocking to popular spots like Bear Mountain and Harriman state parks.

A Metro-North train was seen barely missing several sightseers who were walking illegally on the Moodna Viaduct. There is no word if people were arrested by MTA police, but Cornwall authorities say they ticketed 40 cars nearby and another three after thousands of people from out of town drove in.

Parts of Harriman State Park are now closed as a result, along with trails at Breakneck Mountain and Mount Beacon. Authorities say, until all the parks and trails are closed, the problem during the pandemic will continue.
