Homeowners and motorists armed with snow blowers and shovels hit the icy streets Saturday morning to clean up the mess from Friday?s storm.
"It is a lot of work," says Virginia Sullivan, of West Nyack. "The whole family's been in on it. We just keep shoveling and shoveling and trying to get out."
Most major highways in the region were cleared over night by highway workers, making for relatively smooth driving conditions, but some secondary roads in Rockland County were still covered with a layer of ice.
