Some residents are concerned about a homeless shelter's planned move to their neighborhood.

Neighbors tell News 12 that they support the Jan Peek House in Peekskill -- but not it's new location. Some are expressing concerns about their safety and quality of life.

But one resident of the Jan Peek House says neighbors have the wrong idea.

"None of us are drug addicts; none of us are convicted criminals," resident Toni Ann says. "We just ended up where life got too much, the bills got too much, and we needed help at that point."

The shelter says it is moving because the location is central to the area and the building will allow them to better serve the homeless.

John Hallinan, of Caring for the Hungry and Homeless of Peekskill, says he understands homeowners' concerns and is willing to work with them.
