A Mount Vernon pastor who loves to donate produce to the less fortunate has one prize possession he's hanging onto -- a 111-pound watermelon.
Pastor Hugh Farrish, who owns a farm in Goshen, transports produce to the Bowen Memorial Baptist Church in Mount Vernon to help the less fortunate. Farrish says he was inspired by his grandfather who did the same by giving to others who coudn't afford to stock their kitchens.
"I just love donating cause along the way someone helped me so I want to help somebody else," says Farrish. "And the bible teaches us about giving. It says giving shall be given to you."
The 77-year-old has been working on a farm since he was 4 years old.
While he's all for giving, the one thing he is not ready to part with is his 111-pound watermelon. Farrish says when he's ready to part with it he plans on sharing.
