There’s a holiday tradition in Greenwood Lake that will be embraced on even the coldest, wettest day of the year.
Santapalooza is an event where paddleboard enthusiasts dress up like Santa, Mrs. Claus and elves for a 90-minute outing on the water.
The holiday parade on water also features inflatables, tinsel and even a Christmas tree.
Organizer Micki Lees with Jersey Paddleboards says everyone - paddleboarder or not - is welcome.
The event costs $5 to participate, and paddleboards can be rented.
First-time riders aren't allowed out, but can take kayaks instead.
Paddleboarders are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for the Holy Rosary Church's food pantry. Proceeds from Santapalooza go to them as well.
Pre-registration for the event next week is required.
