The Tallman-Budke House in West Nyack is now open to the public after town officials used more than $500,000 in New York state funding to restore the historic property that dates back almost three centuries.
Located on Germonds Road, the historic Rockland County home was built in the 1730s. It served as a small farm before it was abandoned in the 1930s.
Clarkstown town officials bought the property in 2011 and have since worked hard to restore the property to its former glory. The Tallman-Budke House is now on both the New York State Register of Historic Places and the National Register of Historic Places.
Town officials say the home will also be used to bring revenue into the town in the form of heritage festivals, historic tours and similar events.
Several major movie studios, including Warner Brothers, have even shown interest in filming productions on the property.
