Hiring site sparks controversy in Mamaroneck
An attempt to get day laborers off the streets and into a hiring site is not sitting well with some Mamaroneck residents.
Dozens of residents gathered Saturday outside the home of Village Board Trustee Tom Murphy to protest the location of the hiring site. The site is located at Strait Gate Church on Madison Street. Residents say they would like the site moved to a commercial area rather than a residential area due to quality of life and traffic concerns.
The residents plan to voice their concerns at Village Hall during the next town meeting.
