A full-page ad printed Tuesday in the Journal News has tenants of the Highland Hall apartment complex on edge.
The ad warns of higher taxes and reduced property values, if the Rye City Council enacts the Emergency Tenant Protection Act. Council members and some tenants are pushing for the ETPA to go through so that if a plan to transform their apartments into condos is given a green light, rent increases for the current tenants would be forbidden.
The group that sponsored the ad will be holding an informational session Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the Rye Free Reading Room on Boston Post Road, where the public is invited to attend. In addition, the City Council will be holding a special meeting on Saturday.
