Community Against COVID-19 was started by Gabby Ripka, Sam Lubcher, Jack Brook and Alex Hansburg.  “When your own immediate safety is in danger, it’s really easy to overlook the needs of others and we just felt that, we wanted to make sure that wasn’t going to happen,” says Lubcher.
The students deliver the food right to people's homes.
The students say people can call them or go to their website. People can give their debit or credit card information to the store, send them payment by Venmo or by cash or check. “We’re in touch with the people throughout their shopping, throughout the entire shopping to let them know what’s out of stock and if they need different brands,” says Ripka.
People are extremely grateful for the friendly service these kids are providing. “It’s been a life saver. She’s a complete angel. She gets everything right,” says Marcy Sklaver, a client of Community Against COVID-19.
The idea of grocery shopping for seniors and the immunocompromised has spread, and there are now branches of Community Against COVID-19 in Bergen County, New Jersey and in Palm Beach County, Florida.  “I’m just hoping we can spread our message,” says Ripka.
