Two dogs are safe and sound thanks to the heroic efforts of police officers in the Village of Liberty.
The officers responded to a distress call about a dog barking persistently for over two hours and swiftly took action.
The sound led the officers to an underground box culvert located along Edgar Street, where they discovered the two trapped dogs approximately 40 feet into the culvert. Determined to save them, the officers faced the challenge head-on.
To reach the stranded pups, the officers had to navigate through a hole in a chain-link fence and slide down a 7-foot concrete wall. They successfully reached the trapped dogs and brought them to safety.
Following the rescue, the dog control officer has taken custody of the dogs and is now on a mission to find their owner.
