Heavy rain drenches coastline as storms move out of region
Heavy storms drenched the coastline and prompted the National Weather Service to issue flash flood warnings and watches for parts of Fairfield County.
A flash flood warning was in effect Tuesday but ended at 7 a.m. and a flash flood watch expired at 12 p.m.
Heavy rain fell through the morning and scattered showers are expected throughout the day.
News 12 meteorologists say showers and a thunderstorm are also possible later. A quarter to half an inch of rain is possible.
Various roads and bridges were closed as a result of the potential flooding on Monday and Tuesday including the West Main Street Bridge in Stamford, officials say.
