A child from upstate Monroe County has died from the flu, marking the first pediatric flu death of the season in New York.

This is the second child to have died from the flu nationwide this season.

It is not clear if the two children who have died from the flu had been given the flu vaccine, but health care professionals say a majority of children who die from influenza are children who are not vaccinated.

Doctors urge anyone over the age of six months to get the flu vaccine.
