Health concerns surround DEP Yorktown headquarters
Nearly three weeks after the damaging nor?easter, environmental police officers are worried about health issues in their Yorktown building.
The building houses the city's Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) police officers. Gallons of water continue to be pumped out of the building. The officers say the building is unsafe after massive flood damage.
Kenneth Wynder, union president of DEP police, says the building should have been condemned. Wynder says mold is a big concern. He says he asked for a new station for the officers, but says the DEP claims the building is structurally sound.
Wynder says he may have his officers evacuate the building if nothing is done.
