Officials are warning residents about a lottery scam in White Plains. They say scammers are approaching victims, asking for help cashing in a lottery ticket that appears to be real. The scammers say they will split the winnings if you give them money or jewelry as a sign of good faith. They also tell the victims they can make a phone call to the "lottery commission" to confirm the ticket, but the person on the other line is actually another accomplice. If you are approached to help claim a winning ticket, police say to walk away or call 911.
