Here are some stories making headlines across the Hudson Valley.
Police say a man who stole a car was caught by police in the Hudson River and is facing charges. Hastings police tried to stop a car at Broadway and Main Street. The driver pulled into a driveway on Main Street and then drove onto the sidewalk and down a staircase. Police say he later ditched the car on Southside Avenue. After a foot pursuit, police caught the suspect in the river. Joseph Espinal, of the Bronx, now faces several charges, including criminal possession of stolen property and reckless endangerment.
Friday is the final day of classes in Greenburgh following a lockout Thursday. Police were called to Seely Place School around 1 p.m. due to reports of a man shouting obscenities and making obscene gestures to a child standing outside of the school. The school was then placed in a lockout while investigators scoured the scene. Police say they found no threats and that there was no threat to the community.
State police are searching for a couple they say was caught on camera stealing from the Walmart in Cortlandt. Investigators say the couple stole merchandise last month from the East Main Street location. Anyone with information is asked to call state police.
