Here are some stories making headlines across the Hudson Valley.
State police say Joseph Messina and William Bailey, both from Pennsylvania, crashed while riding the motorcycles. Bailey was thrown from the bike and hit an utility pole. Troopers say he was pronounced dead at the scene. Messina was treated at the hospital and released. An investigation found he had been drinking. He is charged with DWI and is due back in court next month.
Peekskill police are searching for a suspect in a shooting. Police say a 53-year-old victim is recovering from multiple gunshot wounds. News 12 was told the victim was found near Welcher Avenue and Washington Street Sunday night. Police believe the victim and gunman knew each other and the shooting was not random.
Four illegal guns are now off the streets of Mount Vernon. Police say detectives recovered the firearms during three separate incidents in just over 24 hours. The first was recovered during a police chase last Thursday. Two more were taken from a vehicle that was not properly registered and wanted in connection with a robbery. The third was taken from a suspect believed to be involved in a shooting in the Bronx. All suspects face gun charges among other charges.
