A Haverstraw man is dead following a two-car crash in Orange County. State police say Dillon Ortiz was driving on State Route 293 in the Town of Highlands when he passed a dump truck on the shoulder. Upon reentering the roadway, police say Ortiz hit a pickup truck. Ortiz’s vehicle rolled over. He died at a hospital.
A Saugerties man is facing charges for an assault from late last year. Police say they responded to reports of two men attacking the owner of Rust Free Motors. When police arrived, Robert Nuzzo Jr. took off from the scene, leading to a warrant for his arrest. He was stopped for a traffic violation this week, and then taken into custody without incident.
The son and son-in-law of the Satmar Grand Rabbi in Williamsburg are believed to be in critical condition after a Sullivan County crash. Officials say the two-car crash happened Sunday by State Route 55 in Swan Lake. Officials say the two passengers suffered serious head injuries, while four others went to a hospital. The driver who allegedly caused the crash is expected to be ticketed for making an illegal U-turn.
