A 101-year-old veteran was honored Veterans Day with a flag that flew over West Point for his birthday.

Americo Sanchez is a decorated war veteran who enlisted in the Army at 19 years old. He served in World War II from 1941 to 1945.

Sanchez is a longtime resident of Haverstraw and formed a bond with the owner of Babe's Bar and Grill, Jerry Accomando.

That is why Accomando wanted to honor his "oldest friend" with a flag on his birthday.
