Hastings-on-Hudson police say they believe suspects wanted in a multidepartment chase over the weekend have fled the village. 

The police chase on the Saw Mill Parkway ended with the suspects leaving their vehicle and running away on foot. 

Helicopters, K-9s and SWAT officers assisted county police, Yonkers police and state police in the search for the people who were in the car near Ravensdale Road in Hastings.

Police told residents on Sunday that officers would be out in the neighborhoods to ensure everyone's safety and urged people to lock their homes and cars. 

Hastings-on-Hudson police chief released a statement on Monday saying in part that the entire area was canvassed, and they believe the suspects are no longer in the village.

There is no word yet on any arrests.
