A Harrison town employee is accusing the town's police department of corruption, nepotism and favoritism.
The employee, who asked News 12 to conceal his identity, accuses Police Chief Michael Olsey of playing favorites and promoting officers who aren't qualified.
"You don't strong-arm people. You don't offer them bribes to defer their position. You do things by law," he says.
At a promotions ceremony for the department on Wednesday, Olsey denied the employee's accusations, saying "There's no such corruption or under-the-table dealings. We all walk a straight line."
As News 12 reported, a former volunteer firefighter filed an Equal Employment Opportunity Commission charge alleging harassment and retaliation from town officials, including former Police Chief Anthony Marraccini.
The town's attorney responded by saying "The town had no foreknowledge of Mr. Marraccini's actions and certainly does not condone the conduct of the ex-chief as alleged in the EEOC complaint
A Harrison detective is also taking legal action against the current police chief, claiming years of sexual harassment. She says it turned physical when he grabbed her buttocks during a photo shoot with kids.
"Unfortunately I can't say anything, I'm sorry," Olsey says of the allegations. "There's an open investigation, and that's all I can say."
