The Harrison Town Board unanimously voted for an independent investigation into the entire police department Thursday night.
Harrison Mayor Joan Walsh asked the town board to hire an independent investigator to examine the problems within the Harrison Police Department.
The Harrison Police Department has been faced with three lawsuits this year alone. The latest involves a teenage girl who claims that a police captain fondled her and forced her to watch a sex tape she made with her boyfriend.
Harrison Police Chief David Halls says that the cases should be tried in the court system and that hiring an independent investigator is politically motivated and unfair.
