A jury unanimously acquitted a Harrison police officer accused of sexually abusing a woman during a traffic stop in 2006.
Officer Edward Detlefs broke down in tears when the verdict was delivered Wednesday, clearing him of any wrongdoing in the case involving Stacey Summa.
"We didn't feel there was enough evidence in the case," says juror Debbie Bianco.
Summa's claims had been undermined by her admitting to being high and drunk at the time of the alleged incident.
Summa's case against Detlefs was brought by the controversial attorney Jonathan Lovitt, who filed more than a dozen lawsuits against the Harrison Police Department. All but two lawsuits had been dropped.
