Harrison booze bash reminiscent of teen tragedy
A suspected underage drinking bash in Harrison was a haunting reminder for residents of a similar teen tragedy that took place five years ago.
During a party on Rockwell Avenue Tuesday night, police say one teen gashed his head after getting drunk and hitting it on a kitchen counter. Police say the teens later went to Brentwood Park and tried to take the injured student home. When the student refused, one of his friends punched him and knocked him out. After hearing sirens, the teens abandoned their wounded friend in a ditch, cops say. The teen is recovering at Westchester Medical Center. One of his friends was arrested.Police say the latest incident and the tragedy from five years ago involved students at Harrison High School. Those students also became overly intoxicated and overly aggressive, according to police. They say in both cases, one teen assaulted another with knockout force. However, five years ago, Rob Viscome's friends intentionally abandoned him. Viscome died as a result. The Harrison police chief doesn't think the teen was intentionally abandoned by friends Tuesday night.
Harrison residents say teens have to be made accountable when they are left at home. Residents say they hope to never see a repeat of the incident where a teen dies again.
