The Guardian Angels, a volunteer group dedicated to public safety, staged a protest Wednesday in Yonkers outside the Uniform Outlet Center on Main Street.
The store, the group claims, is selling gang-related clothing.
According to Papa Diongue, the store?s owner, the racks and shelves are stocked with nurses? uniforms and slippers commonly worn to match the colorful scrubs.
The Guardian Angels handed out flyers warning about the slippers, which they consider gang-related clothing. The flyers also detailed the violence gang-related clothing promotes. Group members say they will continue to inform the public about stores they deem questionable.
?I?m surprised because those kinds of slippers they are talking about ? everyone wears them,? Diongue says. ?It has nothing to do with gangs.?
