A groundbreaking was held Wednesday at the site of a future mixed-use building in downtown New Rochelle.
The six-story 71-unit residential and commercial building will be called The Printhouse.
"This represents one piece of our broader strategy to create an economically vibrant walkable downtown that people throughout our region will want to live in, want to shop in, want to work in,” said New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson.
Bramson said New Rochelle adopted a new downtown plan a few years ago and that the pace of progress has accelerated since then. Dozens of projects have been approved, and several are already under construction.
The development will be geared toward millennials who work in New York City.
Once completed, the new building will be an eight-minute walk to the Metro-North station.
Developers say the Printhouse will have plenty of parking and be outfitted with the latest technology.
