The Greenburgh School District is set to undergo a multimillion-dollar overhaul.

The superintendent says the initiative will make Greenburgh a world-class school district.

The plan is to create a unified campus on the district's 185-acre Woodlands property. All students pre-K through grade 12 will attend classes in three buildings instead of five.

Administrators say the move will decrease overall operating and maintenance costs, sustain student and teacher relationships and improve student behavior.

"Our children are worth it. That's why, our children are worth every penny," says Superintendent Dr. Tahira Dupree Chase. "We want our children to have world-class opportunities and we have to provide them with world-class facilities and instructional opportunities."

The project will cost $166 million and will cost the average household less than $100 a month.

The Board of Education will first need to accept the plan. Then, Greenburgh residents will vote on it. If approved, the project could take three to four years to complete.
