Greenburgh police, Westchester DA investigate possible police misconduct
A female college student is accusing several members of the Greenburgh Police Department of sexual misconduct during her arrest on January 21.
Tony Castro, the accuser's attorney, says his client and a male friend were stopped in the a movie theater parking lot in Elmsford while impaired and in possession of marijuana. Castro says police searched the car and found sex toys, which they then used to taunt the woman. Castro says the misconduct continued for three hours at the police station and that many more officers participated. News 12 Westchester has learned that one officer has been suspended without pay and several others were reassigned following the charges.
Castro also says that the suspended officer met up with the girl after she was released and participated in some form of sexually deviant behavior. Neither side is saying what transpired. Greenburgh Police Chief John Kapica released a statement saying the matter would be investigated fully and officers found guilty of misconduct would be disciplined accordingly.
