The Great Neck plastic surgeon allegedly found with an arsenal of weapons in Westchester was back at the Westchester County Courthouse Tuesday.
Dr. Matthew Bonanno is out of jail now after spending months in prison on weapons charges. He appeared before a judge this morning asking for more freedom of movement.
Bonanno showed News 12 the ankle monitoring bracelet that he's been ordered to wear and his attorney Paul Gentile claims the bracelet is detrimental to his client's health.
Gentile says Bonanno has hypertension and cannot exercise because the ankle bracelet hurts.
Back in August, authorities seized dozens of weapons plus and more than 1,600 rounds of ammunition from the doctor's car and homes in Westchester and Great Neck.
The accusations started when a friend called Tuckahoe police and said Bonanno had threatened to kill his ex-wife and her family.
Bonanno is charged in a 13-count indictment.
Gentile says a lot of false narratives have been given about this case, and he's now looking to move the case out of Westchester County to Bronx County Court, where he was once the district attorney.
"Matthew Bonanno cannot get a fair trial in this county before this judge. It was shown over and over again, and it was crystal clear today," says Gentile.
Bonanno will be back in court in January. His lawyer hopes at that time a decision will be made of whether they can move the case out of Westchester County.
