Mount Vernon Mayor Richard Thomas was indicted by a grand jury on larceny charges Wednesday.

Thomas faces charges of three counts of grand larceny in the third degree, grand larceny in the fourth degree and offering a false instrument for filing in the first and second degree.

Thomas was arrested back in March for allegedly using both his campaign and inaugural account funds to pay his rent, make car payments and purchase a $2,000 Chanel purse.

Thomas has denounced the charges, and earlier this week filed a lawsuit claiming the charges are moot since they were filed by Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, who has since resigned.

There is no date on when Thomas will be arraigned on the indictment.
