Governor George Pataki (R-NY) is recovering Thursday after having his appendix removed at a Cortlandt Manor hospital.
Pataki checked himself into Hudson Valley Hospital Center Wednesday complaining of abdominal pains. He unexpectedly canceled an appearance earlier in the day with New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Pataki?s aide says the surgery seems to have gone fine.
Pataki announced in July that he isn?t seeking a fourth term as governor and is contemplating a run for the 2008 GOP presidential nomination.
