Gov. Kathy Hochul has signed legislation banning smoking at all state parks and beaches.
The ban includes boardwalks, marinas, playgrounds, recreation centers and group camps.
Smoking in these designated areas will be punishable with a $50 civil fine.
The bill excludes parking lots, sidewalks adjoining parks, and areas not used for park purposes. It also exempts the Adirondacks and Catskills.
