Gov. Kathy Hochul announced the final details of the plan to add a crash gate to the interstate Wednesday following the deadly bus crash in Waywayanda.
The State Department of Transportation will design and install a new entranceway and access gate at the County Route 49.
This change will provide emergency service vehicles direct, faster access to I-84.

Firefighters have been calling for the gate for more than 20 years.
Construction will begin this spring.
