Golfers tee off for recovering New City firefighter
A fundraiser was held Wednesday for the New City firefighter recovering from an infection he got while battling the flu.
More than 100 people participated in a golf outing at the Philip J Rotella Golf Course in Pomona for Will McCue.
The 19-year-old volunteer firefighter is currently at Helen Hayes Hospital in West Haverstraw.
Doctors had to amputate his hands and feet after he went into septic shock. His family says he is recovering and remains positive.
"His recovery has been very steady. He's doing very well, he's gained about 40 pounds. He's much stronger, he's much more mobile, at the stage of this recovery he's healing with his skin about to start his prosthetics. We are looking forward to him being fully mobile and very independent,” says his father William McCue.
All of the money raised from the event will go toward McCue's medical expenses.
