People in Rockland County are rolling up their sleeves in memory of a young boy who died in a car crash several years ago.
A blood drive was held at Willow Grove Elementary School in Thiells in honor of 10-year-old Michael Bosco. He received eight blood transfusions following a car crash in Nanuet in Oct. 2021 – but ultimately did not survive.
He would have turned 13 on St. Patrick’s Day.
Bosco lived in Pomona and was a fifth grader at the school that’s now keeping his memory alive.
"Not only memorializing him and remembering him, but we're giving back the gift of life with the blood shortage and everything,” said Nichol Bosco, Michael’s mother. “We want to make sure as a family that blood is available for anybody who might have a horrific accident."
It’s the fifth blood drive organized by the Masonic Temple in Pearl River, a group Bosco’s uncle belongs to.
