Members of the Rockland County community gathered to say their final goodbyes to former Sheriff James Kralik.
Kralik died Monday after losing his battle against cancer at the age of 74.
There was a large showing of family, friends and community members for the funeral services at Sacred Heart Church in Suffern.
"Rockland County is one of the safest counties in the world, that's not an accident," says Rockland County Executive Ed Day. "That comes from a band of brothers in law enforcement, but you have to have leaders and Jim Kralik was second to none in that aspect."
Remembered as a strong leader by law enforcement, residents remembered the former sheriff for his community involvement.
"Everybody loves him, young guys would probably like to have him as a father," said Drew Burke, who knew Kralik for nearly 40 years through volunteer work.
