The DOT electrician killed on the Hutchinson River Parkway has been laid to rest.
Mayor Bill de Blasio spoke at the funeral of George Staab Saturday.
He praised the 57-year-old as one of the people who made New York City work.
"We are here today because we appreciate for what he did for all of us. We are here because we appreciate that he served us, served 8.5 million people, and gave his life in that service and that means so much," said Mayor de Blasio.
As News 12 has previously reported, the 57-year-old and his colleague were working on the shoulder of the parkway earlier this month when he was hit by a car.
Staab was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center, but couldn't be saved.
What caused the driver to crash is still under investigation.
