About two dozen people marched from Nyack to Tarrytown to support their friend who was recently diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease.

John Habermann, of White Plains, says will never forget this trip across the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge.

Habermann's family and friends masked up for the march to show that they will be there every step of the way with him as he continues battling ALS.

They also started a GoFundMe that has raised thousands of dollars to help him pay for treatments and other expenses.

While ALS may be affecting Habermann's voice and ability to walk, it isn't stopping him from living his life - or even cracking jokes.

"I love the Yankees so much I got Lou Gehrig's disease," he says.

According to the ALS Foundation, a little more than 5,000 people in the U.S. are diagnosed each year with this disease that still doesn't have a cure.

Habermann believes that will change soon.

"There's got to be a miracle cure. and why not me? Let's do it! Let's beat ALS," he says.
