Hundreds of people braved some very cold water over the weekend for annual the Westchester Polar Plunge.
Participants ran into the Long Island Sound at Glen Island Park in New Rochelle.
The event called "Freezin’ for a Reason" raises money for the Special Olympics of New York. "Just seeing their faces during the different events, just seeing them smile and participate and do what they love that's a great thing to know that they are going to play a sport they love and participate with their friends," says Brandon Laspina, of Somers.
Organizers say they exceeded their goal by raising nearly $140,000.
